International Bariatric Club (IBC) - Malaysia Chapter

Who We Are

The IBC Malaysia Chapter is the Malaysian chapter of the International Bariatric Club (IBC), a non-profit international academic community with strong educational roots in the United States and Oxford, United Kingdom.

The chapter serves as an ASEAN platform dedicated to advancing obesity science, metabolic and bariatric surgery, endobariatric therapies, pharmacotherapy, and comprehensive lifestyle interventions across Southeast Asia, while maintaining close academic alignment with IBC’s global educational activities.

We bring together surgeons, gastroenterologists, obesity physicians, pharmacotherapy specialists, dietitians, psychologists, nurses, and researchers to raise standards of care and strengthen regional collaboration.

Our Purpose

The IBC Malaysia Chapter aims to:

  • Connect clinicians across the ASEAN region with the international academic network of IBC based in the United States and the United Kingdom

  • Promote high-quality education in obesity science, metabolic and bariatric surgery, endobariatrics, and medical obesity management

  • Facilitate multidisciplinary collaboration across surgery, medicine, nutrition, behavioural health, and lifestyle medicine

  • Encourage regional clinical research and scientific exchange within the IBC academic ecosystem

  • Support the integration of pharmacologic therapies into comprehensive obesity management

  • Host academic events, including the IBC Malaysia Congress 2026, as part of IBC’s non-profit global educational activities
